“Negative free” doesn’t mean that you have to be happy about everything. It doesn’t mean that nothing is ever bad, or that you have to pretend that something is a good thing when it’s clearly not.
It means you choose not to focus on what is bad but on what is good.
It’s about changing your perspective.
When things are bad, what can you focus on?
You can focus on the good things in the situation.
If you had a bad day at work… that means you have a job. Many people don’t.
If your children did not behave today… that means you have children. Many people don’t.
If your dinner was overcooked… that means you have food. Many people don’t.
You can focus on solutions to the problem.
If the weather is hot… how can you cool down?
If your child doesn’t feel well… what can you do about it? How can you make the best of your time at home?
If the electricity goes out… what fun things can you do while you wait for it to go back on?
You can laugh.
Don’t major in the minors.
Some things aren’t worth getting so upset about. They will pass.
Did you say something embarrassing? We all have. Laugh about it and move on.
Did you forget something? Spill something? Trip over something? We’ve all done those things too. Laugh and move on!
You can count your blessings.
Maybe things aren’t perfect. But chances are, you have a lot of good things in your life too.
Probably things you won’t appreciate unless you have to do without them.
