Hi!
I’m Laura Kay. I’m a wife and mother of five.
I’m fed up with negativity and the way it affects my family. I’m tired of the way it drains motivation and causes people to lose hope before they’ve even begun.
I guess you could say I have a negative attitude toward negativity. Ironic, I guess.
But here are a few things I’ve noticed:
- People live up or down to the labels we give them. Putting people down doesn’t make them do better.
- Noticing only how empty the glass is, and never how full, doesn’t motivate people. It only depresses them and makes them want to give up.
- Feeling sorry for yourself and adopting a victim mentality won’t help you rise above and change your circumstances.
- Grumbling, griping, whining, and complaining – without any vision for change – won’t fix anything.
- We tend to get what we expect to get.
- Praising people when they do well helps them want to achieve even more.
- Gratitude and anxiety can’t coexist. If we count our blessings, it will chase the anxiety away – at least temporarily.
- Counting your blessings is motivating and can even improve your health.
There’s a reason why people make big changes for the better after listening to motivational speakers. Mental attitude changes everything.
It’s hard not to be negative when that’s what the people around you are doing. It’s also hard not to be negative when things are not going the way you hoped they would.
BUT, if you are determined to change your attitude, if you are determined to be part of the solution and not part of the problem, then you can make a big difference in the world.
